More than 8000 people of all ages welcomed migratory birds in 2008 in seven departments of Colombia and in the city of Bogotá through the V Migratory Bird Festival, of ProAves, participating in many activities such as parades, workshops, talks, walks and birding tours.
San Vicente de Chucurí
The activities were carried out between August and November, particularly in the municipalities of El Tambo (Cauca), Ocaña (Norte de Santander), Jardín (Antioquia), Génova (Quindío), and San Vicente de Chucurí (Santander), based in our Natural Bird Reserves of Mirabilis Swarovski, Recurve-billed Bushbird, Yellow-eared Parrot, El Mirador, Fuertes’s Parrot, and Cerulean Warbler, and in Roncesvalles (Tolima), and Guasca, Cundinamarca.
Activities, which also included the distribution of over 6,159 educative materials, were led by the Environmental Education and Conservation areas of ProAves.
