In the 2006, ProAves established the first ecological easement in Colombia, in Jardín, Antioquia, for the protection of the Yellow-eared Parrot and the Cerulean Warbler.

This tool consists basically of a voluntary but formal contract between two or more estates (one is called the dominant estate and the other the dominated estate) to ensure a permanent sustainable management of part or all of a property, while the other part of the property is placed under limitation use.

This easement established in Antioquia is operating between a reserve, property of Mr. José Humberto Jaramillo, with part of the property holding forest under permanent conservation. A second ecological easement has been completed at a shade coffee property owned by Nora and Ruth Marina Jaramillo, where the Yellow-eared Parrot and Cerulean Warbler feeds.
